Church Covenant
Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior, being led by the Holy Spirit, I now desire to unite in membership with the Good News Church family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members to be the following:
A Christ Follower
- Born of God’s Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice (John 1:12-13)
- Baptized by immersion (Romans 6:3-4)
- Growing as a skillful handler of God’s Word (II Timothy 2:15)
- Conducting myself in a manner worthy of the gospel (Phil. 1:27)
A Bridge-Builder
- Prepared to give my testimony and a basic gospel presentation (I Peter 3:15)
- Intentionally building relationships of love and trust with those outside the family of God (Philemon 1:6)
- Always seeking to invite unchurched friends to Good News
A Generous Contributor
- Being a faithful steward of my financial resources by generously contributing to the work of Christ at Good News and sharing with those in need in practical and material ways (II Corinthians 8:7, I John 3:17-18)
- Serving the cause of Christ sacrificially, understanding my spiritual gift and finding an appropriate place of service in the Good News body (I Peter 4:10)
A Community Developer
- Faithfully attending at Good News worship services (Heb. 10:24-25)
- Welcoming visitors at all Good News gatherings
- Participating in a Good News Small Group
- Investing in friendships in the Good News family
A Unity-Protector
- Seeking to resolve conflicts biblically, refusing to gossip (Matt. 18:15 17)
- Following the leadership of the church (Hebrews 13:17)
- Abiding by and supporting the Good News’ Vision, Statement of Faith, and Communication Covenant (Phil. 2:1-2).
